Fat To Fit in College
Fitness tip #256: This come from a study by Brian Wansink, author of Mindless Eating. http://www.runnersworld.com/article/0,7120,s6-242-304—12722-0,00.html
So put your food in a dark colored bowl, and somewhere else except your desk (preferably someplace you’d have to get up to go get the candies).
hmm..
Oh I’ve noticed.

Somewhere between apple and hourglass, more apple though.

They all weigh 150lbs
I love this. Just goes to show, one person’s ideal weight isn’t everyone’s ideal weight.

I am so thankful to have parents that are extremely supportive of my weight loss journey. I talk to my mom a lot about it, because she and I are super close. She, of course, shares everything with my dad. She tells me often how proud they both are of me. When I told my dad that I’d lost over 40 lbs since starting this, he told me I should go to the store and pick up a bag of water softener salt (they weigh 40 lbs).
Today after church and lunch with them, we stopped at a local grocery store. My dad asked how many pounds I was down, and I told him 42 lbs. So he took me over to the cat food and had me hold enough bags to equal 42 lbs just so I could really see how much I’ve lost.
As he put the last bag of cat food on my arms, I was shocked at how heavy 42 lbs actually was and that less than 9 months ago, I was carrying that weight on my body. As I stood there waiting for my mom to take my picture (“This would be a great picture for your blog!” said Dad), I could feel my face getting flushed just from holding the weight. It’s no wonder I sweated all the time whenever I did anything.
This weekend has been a good one for putting everything into perspective. Sometimes I forget to step back and acknowledge what I’ve accomplished so far instead of focusing so much on how far I still have to go.
I’d like to encourage you to do the same the next time you’re feeling discouraged. Try picking up the amount of weight you’ve lost so far, or try on a pair of your “fat” pants. Then don’t feel an ounce guilty for giving yourself a pat on the back, because you are awesome. And you deserve it.

I know I haven’t been as active as I need to be to lose weight. Now that I’ve finished all the homework I need to before finals, I’m stealing less and will be able to focus a little more on working out. I’ve kept to my diet most days, only breaking it by a few hundred calories when I do, but since I don’t have a scale anywhere, I don’t know what I weigh now. After finals, hopefully I’ll be working again this summer and spending hours on my feet.
